Last updated: 4 September 2026
Carrea cares about protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, who we may share it with, and what rights you have.
This privacy policy applies to Carrea's website, the My Carrea community, and the services Carrea provides directly to individual users.

We may process:
- name;

- account details;
- profile information you add yourself;
- chosen life stage or interests, where applicable;
- membership status;
- sign-up date;
- information needed to manage your access to free or paid parts of the community.
When you take part in the Carrea community
If you post messages, comments, questions or other content, we process that information in order to provide the community.
Keep in mind that information you share in a visible community space can be read by other members of that space.
You decide what personal information you share in posts or comments. We recommend not publishing anything you wouldn't want to share with other members.
When you become a paying member
We process data needed to manage your membership and payment, such as:
- name;
- email address;
- chosen plan;
- payment status;
- transaction and billing details.
Full payment card details are in principle processed by our payment provider and not stored directly by Carrea.
When you use Carrea's tools
Carrea offers practical tools related to work, career, flexibility and returning to work.
Depending on the tool, you may fill in information yourself about your work situation, preferences or plans.
When a tool is filled in locally or used as a downloadable document without the data being sent to Carrea, Carrea does not receive that information.
When data is sent to Carrea through an online form or digital tool, we only process the information needed to deliver that specific service.
When you sign up for return-to-work support
When you sign up for our return-to-work support (for example via a Typeform), we process your name, email address and planned return date. This data is used to send you relevant emails at the right moments before and after your return, and is stored for this purpose in Typeform and MailerLite.
When you contact us
We may process:
- name;
- email address;
- content of your message;
- any other information you provide yourself.
3. Why do we use your personal data?
We process personal data among other things to:
- provide our website and My Carrea;
- create and manage your account;
- correctly grant free and paid access;
- manage payments and subscriptions;
- give you access to community spaces, information and tools;
- answer questions and support requests;
- send communications you've signed up for;
- keep our services technically safe and reliable;
- understand how Carrea is used and improve our services;
- prevent abuse, fraud or security issues;
- comply with legal and accounting obligations.
We do not use your personal data for purposes incompatible with those for which it was collected.
4. On what legal basis do we process your data?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we need a valid legal basis for every processing activity.
Depending on the situation, we process your personal data based on:
Performance of a contract
When processing is necessary to provide your account, membership, payment or another service you've requested.
Consent
For example for certain newsletters, marketing communications and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Legitimate interest
For example to keep our services secure, prevent fraud or abuse, answer questions and improve our services, as long as this doesn't override your interests and fundamental rights.
Legal obligation
When we need to retain or process certain information under Belgian law, for example for accounting and tax purposes.
5. Newsletters and communication
If you sign up for newsletters or other marketing communications, we use your contact details to send these communications.
You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us.
Service messages necessary for your account or paid membership are not marketing communications. Examples include information about your subscription, payment, important changes to the service, or security notices.
6. Community content
Carrea includes community spaces where members can post their own content.
Depending on a space's settings, your name, profile information, posts and comments may be visible to other Carrea members who have access to that space.
Carrea may moderate community content when necessary for:
- the proper functioning of the community;
- compliance with the community guidelines;
- protecting other members;
- preventing abuse or inappropriate content.
Carrea does not sell your community data to employers or other commercial parties.
7. Who do we share personal data with?
We do not sell your personal data.
We do use external service providers to offer Carrea. At present, these are:
- Mighty Networks — for providing the My Carrea community, including the built-in Mighty Insights analytics feature;
- Lovable and Supabase — for hosting the carrea.be website and processing data from contact and waitlist forms;
- PostHog — for website analytics on carrea.be;
- Stripe — for processing payments;
- Typeform — for collecting data when signing up for return-to-work support;
- MailerLite — for sending newsletters and return-to-work support emails;
- professional advisers such as accountants or legal advisers, when necessary.
This list may change as Carrea adds new services or changes providers. These parties may only process personal data for the services they perform for Carrea and in accordance with applicable privacy law.
Where required, we enter into appropriate data processing agreements.
8. Processing outside the European Economic Area
Some providers Carrea uses may be based outside the European Economic Area or process data via infrastructure outside the EEA.
When personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure a valid legal basis exists, for example:
- an adequacy decision by the European Commission;
- approved standard contractual clauses;
- or another legally permitted safeguard mechanism.
9. How long do we keep personal data?
We do not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Retention periods depend on the type of data. In general:
- account data is kept for as long as your account is active and for a limited period afterwards;
- administrative and payment data is kept for as long as required by Belgian accounting and tax law;
- marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, unless another valid reason exists to retain limited data;
- contact and support messages are kept for as long as reasonably necessary for follow-up;
- community contributions may remain after an account is closed where necessary to keep existing conversations understandable, unless deletion is legally required or reasonably feasible.
Carrea periodically reviews retention periods and deletes or anonymises data when it's no longer needed.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Carrea may use cookies and similar technologies for:
- technically necessary functions;
- security;
- remembering preferences;
- analysing website usage;
- possibly marketing purposes.
Strictly necessary cookies may be used without prior consent when necessary for the website to function or to provide a service you've explicitly requested.
For non-essential cookies, we ask for your consent in advance. You can adjust your cookie preferences or withdraw your consent again via the cookie settings link at the bottom of our website.
More information about the specific cookies used may be included in a separate cookie policy.
11. Sensitive information
Carrea focuses on the work side of parenthood and changing life circumstances.
You may voluntarily share personal or sensitive information in community discussions or forms.
We ask you to only share information relevant to the purpose for which you use Carrea.
Carrea does not systematically ask for medical diagnoses or other special categories of personal data unless necessary for a specific future service, and only with an appropriate legal basis and safeguards in place.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against:
- unauthorised access;
- loss;
- alteration;
- disclosure;
- misuse.
No online system can guarantee complete security, but we limit access to personal data and, where possible, work with professional providers that apply appropriate security measures.
13. Your rights
Under the GDPR, depending on the circumstances, you have the right to:
- know what personal data we process about you;
- access your personal data;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have data deleted;
- have processing restricted;
- object to certain processing;
- have your personal data transferred in certain cases;
- withdraw consent you previously gave.
You can exercise these rights by contacting us at: liesbeth@carrea.be

15. Minors
Carrea is intended for adults and is not directed at children.
We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from minors as users of Carrea.
16. Links to external websites
Carrea may contain links to external websites, for example official Belgian information sources or other relevant services.
Carrea is not responsible for the privacy practices of these external websites. When you visit an external website, that provider's own privacy policy applies.
17. Changes to this privacy policy
Carrea may amend this privacy policy when our services, technology, providers or legal obligations change.
The current version is always published on our website with the date of the last update.
When a change has a significant impact on how we process your personal data, we will inform you in an appropriate way.
